W. Edgar & Louise C. Welden Founders Scholarship
To win this scholarship, the application must be submitted by a Birmingham City School principal, athletic director, coach or teacher.
BAP is proud to offer scholarships to hardworking and enthusiastic senior students who participate in athletics, cheerleading or band seeking to further their education. The scholarships we offer are:
$3,000 W. Edgar & Louise C. Welden Founders Scholarship to one student
$1,000 Corporate Scholarship to eight students
BAP is including a scholarship that offers students the opportunity to attend a two year community college to learn a skill in the following (ex. Auto Mechanics, Cosmetology, Electrician, Welding, etc.). This is an $8,000 scholarship for two years and will be awarded to three students.
The Scholarship Committee will consider only complete application submissions that consist of the following:
- The attached application* filled out in its entirety
- Personal statement (no photos please) of no more than 400 words
- Three (3) letters of recommendation:
- A reference (Coach, Band Director, Cheer Sponsor)
- A personal reference (no family members)
- A high school administrator (principal, teacher or school counselor)
- Transcripts:
- High school transcripts
- ACT score

The completed scholarship application must be submitted via the form below by Friday, April 19th, 2023.
Coach Emanuel “Tubb” Bell Award
To win this award, the application must be submitted by a Birmingham City School principal, athletic director, coach or teacher.
The Birmingham Athletic Partnership has created an award in honor of Coach Emmanuel “TUBB” Bell. This award will recognize a middle or high school coach from the Birmingham City School System that exhibits the character, dedication and courage that Coach Bell portrayed throughout his life.
